We did leave early from the fairgrounds and headed toward the Canal Exploration Center. Arrived early at the center to get a parking space (Coach and car attached) and Brenda was able to get her Junior Ranger badge.
Hiked with the dogs on the Towpath Trail – many, many people on the trail biking and walking. Exhibits inside and out explore how the Ohio & Erie Canal helped a young state grow.
At 11:30 did get to see a reenactment of the operation of the locks – they didn’t work as they did in the day but you got an idea of how the boats were raised and lowered.
The canal system was quite a boast to the State of Ohio.
Then headed over to the campground and we came upon our first major detour that took us quite a ways from our location to get around but we made it. We never did see Streetsboro because the detour closure is right outside the park and we are on the wrong side.
Streetsboro KOA is a medium campground with gravel streets and many seasonals. Nice size lots and a pool and activities.
Monday is our anniversary – 22 years – and even after traveling together in a motorhome for 3 years we are still married. Life is good!
We took off with the dogs and visited Brandywine Falls in the NP (we are on the south end of the park). They are 60 feet tall and the second largest in Ohio. Did the mile and half walk around the falls.
Then we passed by the Happy Days Lodge – which was an old CCC camp – and hiked around that trail.
Stopped for lunch and home to take a nap (Brenda and the dogs).
Fulltime RV living is good for your health – on both sides of our RV we met the couples – one 80 and the other 86 – fresh air is good for you.
Did celebrate our anniversary with Filet Mignons and a good bottle of wine.
Tuesday is Brenda’s shopping day so I sit around and enjoy the fresh air (see above).
Had rain this morning and afternoon and so I missed the one thing on my bucket list that will bring me back – did not ride my bicycle on the Towpath Trail in the NP – next time.
Did I tell you that the weather has been around 70 degrees and we are enjoying it?
Had to take Gretel to the VET this evening, small bladder infection. Okay now!
Wednesday we are off to Erie, Pennsylvania.
